Delta Airlines offers unaccompanied minor services for kids from 5 and above.

What started as a humble aerial crop dusting operation in Macon, Georgia, Delta Airlines has grown into one of the world’s largest global airlines, connecting more than 160 million travellers to the world.

Delta Airlines operates from its North American hub of Atlanta - the busiest airport in the world. As one of the largest and most established American carriers, Delta has an excellent domestic route network within the States as well as international, with flights to Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. 

Economy class passengers may check up to two pieces of baggage at 23kg per bag, whereas Business class passengers can check two pieces of baggage at 32kg per bag. Check-in luggage must not exceed 157 centimetres in total length, width and height.

Delta aims to make the check-in process as seamless as possible by offering passengers the opportunity to check their baggage online within 24 hours of departure. 

Passengers are requested to arrive 3 hours prior to departure of international flights and are required to check in at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Passengers need to be at the gate and ready to board at least 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Passengers are allowed to check-in online and save time at the airport. Online check-in is made available 24 hours before your flight departs.

Delta’s unaccompanied minor service provides steps to make sure your child is safe, comfortable, and enjoys a positive travel experience. Our unaccompanied minor program offers features like a trackable wristband, Sky Zone lounge for kids, and a Delta personnel escort for your child throughout their travel day.

Program Details

• 4 years & younger - May not travel (must be accompanied by a passenger at least 18 years).

• 5 – 7 years - May Travel on some nonstop flight - USD150 each way

• 8 – 14 years - May travel on some nonstop and connecting flights - USD150 each way

• 15 – 17 (who have opted to Travel as an unaccompanied minor) - May travel on nonstop and connecting flights - USD150 each way

Required Check-In Documents

When you arrive at the airport, the accompanying adult is first required to get clearance from the Nigerian Immigration Service for UMNR.

Thereafter, they proceed to see a Delta Airport Customer Service Agent for information regarding drop-off and pick-up for unaccompanied minor travel. A wristband is received for your child to wear in-flight and create a package of boarding documents and ID for your child to use as they travel.

At check-in, the accompanying adult must provide the following:

• Photo ID (license, passport, etc.)

• Address (as shown on ID)

• Contact phone number

• Name, address, and phone number of the adult meeting the unaccompanied minor at their destination
